About this Site...Hello I am Stacey Hanson,   I originally had started this idea of LocalLinks while I was living in North Carolina twenty years ago. My Dad was from Whittier, North Carolina and he had moved us there several times over the years.  We moved back and forth from Darrington, Washington until he retired.  He bought the property at the top of Grindstone Mountain at the end of Barkers Creek and stayed there till his passing in 2009.

I was amazed at how many people in Darrington and surrounding logging areas had come from the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains.  I ran across tons of people with the same last names and looked just like people I grew up with in Darrington.  I had read somewhere at one point 90 % of Darrington residents were directly from North Carolina.  Alot of people had relatives back east or out west, hence my idea of Local Links. People could stay linked with whats happening with their relatives on the other coast.

At the time the crime magazines were all the rage, magazines that printed booking photos of people recently arrested.  I designed one with the seven surrounding counties and their jails sending me mugshot photos every 2 weeks.  I sold advertising to local bailbonds and lawyers and printed my first edition.  As it happens, my grandson was born early in Washington state and I flew home just after completing distribution.  The publishing company I had hired to design the magazine continued to print the paper under the name Just Busted for 9  years.  They used booking photos already available to the public changed the categories from counties to things like beauties that brawl or offenders with mustaches, because they couldnt get the weekly booking photos from the jails.

Today things have changed but I decided to build a website with eventually maybe a printed edition, where Local Links can be usefull to connect the community with desired Local Links.  Happy to hear your thought or ideas or Links you would love to have.   Stacey
